ZHOOZSH! FAKING IT  WINS GOURMAND INTERNATIONAL COOKBOOK AWARD 2011 FOR

SOUTH AFRICA’S BEST EASY RECIPES COOKBOOK

The best-selling anecdotal cook book Zhoozsh! Faking It written by one of South Africa’s favourite celebrity couples, Jeremy and Jacqui Mansfield, has won Best Easy Recipes cookbook in South Africa. This means it automatically qualifies for entry to the Gourmand ‘Best in the World’ category.

Zhoozsh! Faking It follows the successful format of the mega best-selling first cookbook with quick and easy recipes and a humorous style that has made it a much loved and truly South African cookbook.  The Mansfield’s have included various tips and tricks hence the title.

“The faking it refers to time, cost or effort. We came up with recipes that were quick, easy, economical or all three. We want people to impress their guest with minimal effort and fuss,” says Jeremy Mansfield former presenter of 94.7’s The Rude Awakening and now media and corporate social sustainability initiative consultant.

The Gourmand World Cookbook Awards are the international Oscars for food and wine books and there are over 100 countries competing in multiple categories.

The Mansfield’s first cook book, Zhoozsh! scooped multiple Gourmands Awards in South Africa when it released in 2008, winning Cookbook of the Year, Innovative and Media categories. Internationally it placed third in ‘Best in the World’ category.

"Of course it is a huge honour to get recognition from the Gourmand Awards committee.  We aren’t master chefs and our food is straightforward.  It’s fuss and frou-frou free so winning this category is perfect as it describes our book.” Jacqui Mansfield says.

Zhoozsh! Faking It has been lauded by well-known international chefs. Ainsley Harriot said “…you are in for an absolute treat; these guys really know how to bring cooking to life.”  At the Cape Town Food Festival Hilton Blumenthal said their book was, “f*&%ing amazing.”

Between Jeremy, who has won more awards in the radio and television industry than any other personality, and Jacqui they have five best selling books; the two Zhoozsh cookbooks, Jacqui’s An Unpopular War – written under her maiden name Thompson - on South Africa’s Border War and National Service and two of Jeremy’s joke books.

The Gourmand Award winners from each country will compete against winners in the same category from other countries for Best in the World on 6 March 2012 in Paris at the Folies Bergère theatre.
